- Do I need baseball or softball experience?
-
No. Coaching experience is useful for field-based roles, but the organization also needs
help with education, communications, fundraising research, administration, and mentoring.
- Do I have to speak Spanish?
-
No. Spanish is valuable, but it is not required for every opportunity. Respect for local
leadership, patience, and a willingness to listen matter more than pretending to know everything.
- How much does a service trip cost?
-
Costs vary by dates, airfare, group size, lodging, and transportation. We provide an
estimate and explain what is included before asking you to commit.
- Can I fundraise for my trip?
-
Yes. We can discuss fundraising ideas after the trip scope and estimated costs are clear.
Volunteers should not collect money in The Straley Project’s name without written approval.
- Can teams, churches, schools, or other groups serve together?
-
Potentially. Group opportunities depend on dates, size, ages, supervision, and what the
program can responsibly support. Contact us before selecting dates or purchasing airfare.
- Can minors volunteer?
-
Minors may be able to participate as part of an approved group with appropriate adult
leadership and parental permission. Contact us so we can evaluate the situation properly.
- What safety measures are used for trips?
-
Housing, local transportation, schedules, and orientation are planned in advance with
people who know the area. No international trip is risk-free, so expectations and current
conditions are discussed before travel.
